Frequently Asked Questions

And our answers!

What age is Play Village for?

Play is a subjective experience, with interests varying for each individual. Keeping this in mind:

  • Baby Kingdom: Best suited for babies who are crawling and children under 2 years old.
  • Main Facility: Ideal for children aged 2 to 8 years.

There is no upper age limit for enjoying role-play. We welcome siblings, cousins, and friends older than 8 to join in the fun too!

What are the Session times for playing?

We have four play sessions in the day. Our facility opens at 9.00.

Session 1: 9.00 – 11.00

Session 2: 11.00 – 13.00

Sessison 3: 13.30 – 15.30

Sessison 4: 15.30 – 17.30

If you arrive after a session has already started, you are free to wait for the next session in our cafeteria, or you can choose to play immediately. Bear in mind, if you play immediately, you will still need to clean up at the end of the session, regardless of how long you’ve played.

Do I have to pre-book?

We understand the unpredictability of parenthood. Some parents like fixed plans while others fill the day as it psses.

With this in mind, pre-booking is not essential (however we recommend it to avoid disappointment at the door)

We always accept and welcome spontaneous drop-ins.

What if I can't make my booking?

It happens, we get it.

Contact us within a minimum of 24 hours notice and we can transfer your booking to an alternative date.

Tickets are non-refundable.

What if I am late?

We understand it can be difficult to get out of the door on time, especially with small children!

If you arrive within 30 minutes of the start of the session, you are welcome to join the current session.

We recommend any arrival after 30 minutes of the start of play to wait for the next session, as we want you to get the full benefit of the play time.

You are always welcome to use the cafeteria facilities while you wait.

Can I arrive at any time?

We operate pre-defined play sessions to allow us time to tidy up in between, ensuring that every child gets to experience Play Village at its best.

You may turn up at any time during a play session, but you will be required to leave at the end of that session even if you have not been there for the full 100 minutes.

Can I bring a buggy / pram?

We are on the fourth floor, the building has a lift that comes directly into Play Village. We have space for you to store your pram in our cloakroom.

Buchauserstrasse 28 has some stairs at the entrance before you can access the lift. The lift is also quite small – fitting only one pram at a time.

For these reasons, we recommend bringing travel or compact prams, as you will need to lift the pram up the stairs to the lift. Unfortunately you cannot leave any prams at the entrance of the building for fire safety reasons.

What facilities do you offer for babies?

We have two baby high chairs in our cafeteria.

We have a play room dedicated to babies from crawling age up to age two.

We have baby nappy changing facilities in the men’s bathroom and in the ‘Mummy’s Oasis’ which is a separate space in the facility.

The ‘Mummy’s Oasis’ space also provides a quiet area for mothers to breastfeed babies comfortably in private if desired.

What facilities do you offer for parents / adults?

We haven’t forgotten about the adults!

We have a cafeteria that is open throughout your visit. It has a coffee machine, serving a range of hot coffees and milk-coffees. We have a selection of fine Teas, and cold drinks.

We also have snacks for parents, as well as children, available for purchase.

The cafe is open during the play sessions as well as after, and you are permitted to consume your own food in our premises too.

Can I book birthday parties?

Yes! We offer exclusive venue hire for parties.

Just contact us directly for more information on our packages and offerings for bookings at info@playvillage.ch

Do you accept debit/credit card payments?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as Twint.

At the moment we do not accept cash payments.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Annual tickets or bundled entry vouchers are available to purchase online or at our reception desk in Play Village. These are all at a discounted entry price.

Speak to us for more information.

Do you have wheelchair access?

Play Village is based within a building which unfortunately does not currently have suitable entrance access for wheelchairs and does not currently have wheelchair accessible toilet facilities.

Do you have air conditioning?

We currently do not have air conditioning systems at our venue but we’re working on changing this. Currently, in the hot summer days, we ventilate the space during the cooler mornings and keep the shutters low to keep the direct heat out.

But why don’t you have open ‘Free – Play’ Sessions

Our operating hours reflect our belief that play and tidying are integral and go hand-in-hand. We follow Montessori and Pikler approaches, where cleaning up fosters independence, motor skills, concentration, and responsibility in children.

Practical Life Skills

Cleaning up is like a super fun workout for little hands and bodies! It helps children build strong fine and gross motor skills and boosts their hand-eye coordination. All the focus and attention to detail needed for cleaning up turns children into concentration champs, making them awesome learners and problem-solvers!

Independence

When children learn to clean up after themselves, they become little confidence superheroes! Every time they tidy up, they get better at it, growing more independent and responsible. These awesome traits stick with them, making them superstars in all areas of life!

Making sense of the world around them

Creating a beautiful and tidy space for children helps them focus like champions and feel super relaxed! This sense of order gives them a cozy, secure feeling, which is awesome for their emotional growth and development.

Social Skills and Cooperation

Being part of a community means we all pitch in to keep things spick and span! When we tidy up together, we learn how to teamwork like pros, share responsibilities, and cooperate with our pals. These skills make us awesome communicators and super teammates!
